My entry for Jamie's Twelve Days of Christmas Contest!

Hey guys! I know it's been forever since I posted ANYTHING, but...life has been hectic. No excuse, I know. Eff it. I love chuuu. <3 I will definitely upload more stuff from now on. I PROMISE. Anyway, this is my entry for Jamie's Christmas Contest.

These are the rules as she lists them, yo.
Sign up on the widget below and leave a comment. Then from today until Dec. 9th, write a 1000 words or less flash fiction that includes all of the gifts from the 12 Days of Christmas! It doesn't have to follow the song, just have them in there however you like. Then hop around to each others' blog and critique or comment. Along with some special judges, I will be hopping around reading and picking out our favorites and on Dec. 10th, we will post our 3 winners!

Here's my entry:

She was in the hospital, slowly fading away. He knew he had to do something, had to let her know he cared. They had been together for two years, but one of those had been spent badly, between fights and sicknesses and white walls with too-bright lights. He wanted to apologize.
But she wouldn't wake up.
It was Christmas. The doctor came up to him five minutes before twelve. "You should go home, kid," he had said. "It's Christmas in five."
"I want to spend it here," the boy had said. "With her."
The doctor looked at him strangely. "She's not awake."
"She will wake up," the boy replied. "I have to believe it."
The doctor walked away without another word, leaving the boy alone in the waiting room. He was the only one there, since the old lady whose husband had cancer went to get some coffee.
The boy waited for his blonde haired angel to wake up. She loved Christmas.
"It's my favorite season," she'd told him once. "After all, no other season has a song about twelve amazing presents. No other season has snow. And no other season brought me to you."
They had met at a Christmas dinner. He had been reluctant to talk to her, but with their parents being friends, it was hard.
And that was how they fell in love.
And now, in Christmas, his world was falling apart, all because of that dinner.
Someone called his name--a nurse. He stood up.
"She's awake."
That was all he needed. Was it sudden? Yes. It was five in the morning, almost six, by the time he was told. He ran through the hallway, not caring if people held him back, because he would fight. He opened the door to her room.
And there she was. Dressed in white sheets, with only a gown underneath. Her white hair looked duller than usual, her blue eyes pale and lifeless, but somehow she managed to breathe.
"Hey," she croaked out.
"Hi," he said.
"They say there's not much time. I'm only going to be awake for so long."
"What do you need?" He was already at her side, holding her hands, pleading with his eyes.
"I need you. But I already have you. So," she said, glancing up at him. "I want you to sing me the Christmas song."
"I can't sing it."
She sighed. "But you...you told me you'd give me what I wanted."
"And I will." He stood up. "Give me a second. Don't go anywhere."
"Not like I can," she said, but she knew he didn't mean that.
The boy came back to her room a few moments later, a nurse and the doctor behind him. They rushed to the girl and did some checks. After what seemed like an eternity, they looked at the boy.
"You can take her," the doctor said with a nod.
"Take me where?" the girl asked.
The boy winked. "You'll see."

###

"Here." The boy gave his girl the only jacket there was in his car. She shivered and draped it around her. He turned the heater on and started the engine. Soon, they were driving somewhere, a specific place, one she didn't know.
"Where are we going?" she kept asking, but the boy gave nothing away.
She saw the city fade away as they drove deeper into the woods, but they didn't get deep enough. They were in a theater, one she had performed in three years ago, when she played a ballerina in The Nutcracker.
"Why are we here?" She climbed out of the car slowly.
"Come on," he said, avoiding her question and leading her inside.
Once they were seated, the lights turned on.
"I give you," the boy said, "the twelve presents." He beamed at her and sat back.
"What?"
"Twelve drummers drumming," he said, and then twelve drummers dressed in formal band attire stepped onto the stage with the drums in front of them, hanging from their necks. They drummed to the beat of their song. The girl clapped in delight. She never thought she would ever be able to see it, but there she was, and she was loving every minute of it.
After the twelve drummers stepped out of the stage, the boy called on the eleven pipers piping, and they climbed on and played to the beat. She could still hear the drums in the background.
Off the stage the pipers went, and in came the ten lords a leaping, the nine ladies dancing gracefully, the eight maids a milking fake cows, the seven swans swimming in the nonexistent pond, the six geese a laying, who she thought were adorable. When the five rings came, they didn't go onstage. The boy held them in his hand. He offered them to the girl. She slipped them on her fingers, still awed by the boy's gift, and the show continued.
Four Colly birds flew through the theater, held by cords. The girl smiled at them. When she was little, she had always wanted to fly. Then came the three French hens, the two turtle doves, and then, the very last one: a partridge in a pear tree. She tree was fake, as was the partridge, but the girl could care less.
"I love you," she said to the boy. She said it like a promise, and sealed it with a kiss.

Hope you guys liked it! :)

HAPPINESS AND DRAFTS AND OH MY GOD.

So, last night, SOMETHING HAPPENED.
And I know that sounds wrong. But no, THAT did not happen. PERV.
I finished the first draft of my book!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*insert happy dance*
SO, I worked on this book for a week and two days exactly, and OMG I CANNOT BELIEVE I FINISHED IT. There came a time when I thought, "I'm not gonna finish it. EVER."
That, fortunately, only lasted for about a week or so. And then I finished four chapters in a day. AND WITH THAT I FINISHED THE DRAFT.
Oh, I'm incredibly happy. I won't write or edit throughout September (well, kind of, unless I'm in school and bored like I've been for the past two weeks). So yeah, I've started a new WIP. But I won't write it outside of school until October. Thought that'd be fun.
OH AND I MUST EDIT THIS ONE. FOR MY FRIEND'S BIRTHDAY.
So many things to do, so little time. :)

Anyway, the point of this post is that even though it may seem like you can't finish a draft or a song or an essay or whatever it is you just can't seem to finish that is very important to you, you'll finish it. When you're ready to and inspiration strikes, you'll be able to finish. It might come suddenly, and it might now. Either way, it will come, whether it's now or ten years from now.

:)

I'm not dead. Obviously.

So hi guysssss!

As you know, I started a new school last week, and I said I'd get back to you on how I did.

WELL.

It was surprisingly good. I have a friend named Abby who likes books, met a teacher that loves The Mortal Instruments, and other people who like...stuff.

Like I said, the world didn't totally end the first day, or the second, or the third, or any other day, for that matter.

IN FACT.

The first draft of my WIP is about to be done (!!!!!) and I have plans for an original AND a fanfic. I've started writing bits of both. I mostly write the second original in school, when I'm bored. Mostly in economics class. :D

Also, my dog is being SOOOOOO weird and psycho right now. LMAAOOOO!

So, um, I've been reading Supernaturally for weeks. I haven't picked it up in one week!!!! I HAVE AN EXCUSE.

I have at least two homeworks every day. And I get tired. *_*

I'm gonna go finish my homework, and then, if I have time, write. And hopefully I'll finish the draft today (HAAAAA!!!) and start the fanfic. Woooo!
:)

New School, Big Day.

So, in a few hours, my mom will wake me up very early in the morning and tell me I need to get the hell up and get ready and eat, because…I need to get to school.

School is starting.

If you didn’t know this already, then here it goes: I moved, and I’m going to a new school. And, if you didn’t know that I’m excruciatingly shy, then now you do. I am. Shy, I mean. And it’s killing me.

The school I’ll be going to is wonderful. It has so many great classes and an amazing, HUGE campus. I love it.

But I don’t wanna be in it.

The thing is, I’m too shy, and when I’m around people I don’t know—I am not proud of this—I start to shake. Uncontrollably. It’s bad. Really bad. Like, today, I met a girl from school, and I was so nervous instead of shaking her hand I gave her an awkward hug and I was shaking, and I bet she noticed.

I am so awkward.

It’s horrible for me, starting school in a new place with people I don’t know. People say I’ll make friends, and I say, “Maybe,” because it’s all there is to it. Can you read the future? No, you can’t. Neither can I. So we’ll stick with maybe. Just like maybe I’ll finish the first draft of my WIP by Sunday. Maybe I’ll finish Supernaturally by then, too, and maybe my dad will get me Between Shades of Gray and Forbidden.

I don’t know. Do you? I don’t think so.

Tomorrow is a big day. Not only for me, but for my whole family. My brother leaves for college. It’s my dad’s birthday (HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAD!) and I start high school. It’s big. Very, very big.

People said I’d make it. I don’t know if I can.

I hope I do.

I’ll definitely let you know. :)

Also, thanks to my friends, because you're the ones that tell me I'll make friends here because I'm awesome. I'm really not, but thanks. I love you guys. ALL OF YOU.

I love the world. Mostly because I'm tired and by Thursday I'll probably hit 50k on my WIP.

My point here is, all of you who've been to a new school, especially while starting high school, understand me. But not too much. Not really. We're all different. And, if you're starting school and you feel very strongly, whether how you feel is good or bad or scared, let's talk. Please.

Again, I'll let you know about everything! :)

(AND I RECOMMEND THE SONG "TERRIBLE THINGS" BY MAYDAY PARADE.)

My Favorite Series

Now, I love book series. I don't care if they're long or short. They have to be good. So, here are my top 10 favorite series. By the way, they're not in any specific order.

10) Pretty Little Liars - this was the second series I ever read (after Twilight) and it was the one that really got me into reading books. I just love the mystery, and I did NOT see what happened coming. And the 9th book was...interesting. Can't wait for the 10th!

9) Wolves of Mercy Falls - I just really like the wolves here, and I adore St. Clair and Sam. I read Forever (finally!) and it was SO good. And the ending...it's not really an ending. It didn't disappoint me, but I was left wanting more. But I really love this series!

8) Darkest Powers series - this series is amazing. I read the three books in two days! I adored the three books. The characters were really awesome, and I just really, really like this series.

7) The Iron Fey series - I love this series. It's original, and great, and the characters (PUCK AND ASH!!!!) are awesome. So yes. (TEAM ASH!)

6) Hush Hush - I loved Hush Hush. I  don't understand why it's been compared to Fallen and Twilight, because, while those other two have a lot in common (Luce and Bella could be BFFs), Hush Hush has nothing to do with them. Nora is actually likable. In Hush Hush. I HATED her and her choices in Crescendo. SERIOUSLY!!!!! Argh! However, I still liked Crescendo and the mystery and the ending, so I'll be reading Silence. And I hope there'll be more Patch.

5) Hex Hall - this is an example of a great YA series. It has humor, great characters, and some twists that I did not see coming. And it has Archer. What more could someone want? I adored reading Hex Hall, even though I didn't know I would, and ordered Demonglass the same night. <3

4) Morganville Vampires - my best friend's sister gave me all eight books to this series back in November of last year. Back home, it was HARD to find books that were just released, especially of a series as amazing as this one. I had to order it online THIS YEAR to get it. And Bite Club. Cannot wait for Last Breath. This is an amazing series, and I can't help but comparing it to Buffy in the sense that it doesn't deal with the same plot in every book, even though it has 10 books out. There's a MAIN plot, but every book has its own plot, and I love that. It's like the series I'll be announcing next.

3) Vampire Academy - I absolutely fell IN LOVE with this series. Again, my best friend was the one who gave me these. I adored them. I fell in love with Dimitri, Adrian and Christian. And Rose was so amazing. I admire her bravery and all of that. Again, every book has its own plot, but it's in the same world and with a bigger plot in the backround. And it does NOT deal with only vampires, no. It's so much more than that.

2) The Mortal Instruments - Well, let me just start off by saying that this series has Jace. Without Jace, the books would not have the funny parts they have. I really like Simon, Clary, Izzy,Magnus, Alec...and every other character here. And I have a friend who likes the evil ones. O_O

1) The Hunger Games - It has great, strong characters. Katniss is like a humorless Rose. And that's not bad. She's just...serious. The plot in these books is amazing. Some people complain about how Katniss wasn't herself at all in Mockingjay, and how she didn't develop in that book at all. You complain about how she's not brave and she's emotional. Well, try being her. And I know this is silly. Before I judge a character, I always try to see things from her point of view. But if you were to go through the hell Katniss has been through, do you think you wouldn't cry at the end? I would have. And every strong person would. Even a strong guy. Because I don't think it's easy. But I love this series.

So, yeah. Those are my favorite series. There will be more top ten, I think. :) What are your favorite series?

Hi, guys! :)

Hi!!! My name is Camille, and...I've decided to create a blog.

This  blog will be about books--the books I like, the books I don't like, books in general--writing, music (at times), movies, and life.

Also, I ramble. A lot.

It may not seem like it, but I do. Really. Also, I wanna thank Valia Lind (her blog: http://wordsareinnermusic.blogspot.com/ ) for helping me come up with a name! Thank you so much! And thanks to my friends for suggesting names.

So, the first thing you guys should know is that I have never blogged in my life. I'm counting on my friends to help me out. :)

Things you should know about me:

I eat a lot.
I love junk food.
Books are awesome and I love them.
I write.
I watch TV.
I'm freaking out because I start high school in a new place (I cannot socialize in person...I'm awkward...) and I just...ugh. But the school has a kick-ass library.
I have to listen a song every day. Any song. I go insane if I don't.
I carry my iPod everywhere.
I wear my black converse 97% of the time.
Where I live, there are no bookstores in English.
And...that's it!

So, yeah. This is my introduction. Also, I'm on twitter: @camibandlover.

Yay!

Um, I'll try to write posts three times a week or more, but it all depends on school and life and everything else.

This is my very awkward introduction to the world.

I hope you like my blog and all. *waves*

Talk to you guys soon! :)
